I’ve been part of Gab! Magazine since its conception, helping build an independent print publication and creative community rooted in Chicago. As one of two Design Directors, I contribute to each issue from concept through execution, guiding the editorial design, developing feature layouts and promotional materials for print and digital, and curating the artwork and submissions featured throughout.
What started as a single heartbreak-inspired issue has grown into a sold-out publication and events series, with 600+ submissions for our latest issue and more than 300 attendees at our most recent release party. At its core, Gab! is about creating space for people to connect, contribute, and be seen, all through a shared love of the tangible, communal experience of print.
The Illusion Issue
Winter 2026
Gab’s most recent issue explores the subconscious—our hidden fears and desires—and how they surface in real life through art, music, and conversation. The cover features Chicago performers and Strapped at Empty Bottle hosts Irregular Girl and Siichele, alongside interviews with band Conjunto Primitivo, designer Av Grannan, and painter Amy Pearl Lang. The issue also includes essays, stories, and artwork from creatives in Chicago and beyond.
To celebrate the release, we hosted a Surrealist Ball at Breakfast Studios featuring Redux DJ sets and performances by Strapped and Conjunto Primitivo, drawing more than 300 attendees.
The Coming of Age Issue
Spring 2025
Gab’s second issue featured an interview with 10 of the hottest and most talented tattoo artists in Chicago, advice from Dear Gabby, poems, stories, fashion spreads, coloring book pages, and more. To celebrate the release, we hosted a Gab Field Day featuring one-of-a-kind merch, artist trading cards, baseball, tug-of-war, and a performance by the Gab cheerleaders.

The Dumped Issue
Spring 2024
Gab’s first issue featured an exclusive interview with Chicago comedy stars Breastmilk, advice from our infamous Dear Gabby, heartbreak style guides, poems, games, and more. We celebrated the release with a party at Color Club that included a video installation (motion design by me), a fashion show, and a DJ set by DJ John.
